Backyard of the Day:

Antelope Canyon Navajo Tribal Park, Page, Coconino County, Arizona

Antelope Canyon Navajo Tribal Park is located off Highway 98 a few miles east of Page, Coconino County, Arizona

We are still in the Navajo Reservation, and today we saw one of the most amazing places I've ever experienced.

In the desert outside of Page lies a small slot canyon, a crack in the rocks, which was formed by flash floods over thousands of years.
In order to picture how tall the slot canyon is, it helps to know that an adult is slightly shorter than the small archshaped dimple at the bottom, just right of the canyon entrance.

The texture of the canyon walls is created when water, mixed with sand, polishes the rock walls, as it is pushed through the slot canyon.

The sparse sunlight entering the slot canyon produces amazing effects!

The slot canyon is so narrow in places that you can touch the walls on both sides simultaneously, if you stretch out your arms.
