Dagens baghave:

Backyard of the Day:

Dog Beach, Ocean Beach, San Diego County, California

Dog Beach is located south of the South Jetty off Voltaire Street and West Point Loma Boulevard in Ocean Beach, San Diego County, California.

We dared go to the beach on a Saturday in hopes that the rest of the population might be out Christmas shopping, and we day camped at Dog Beach, a part of Ocean Beach.

It wasn't altogether abandoned out there, but it was tolerable. Dog Beach in Ocean Beach went to the dogs in 1972, and was one of the first beaches in the United States to allow unleashed dogs.
By the way, we don't complain about our December weather.

There's also a "people beach", right next to Dog Beach.

Day Camping/Boondocking Information

Dog Beach is a decent spot for day camping.
Parking is free, but a bit cramped, and fills up quickly, especially on weekends. Large campers and trailers would probably have to find curbside parking.
Overnight parking is restricted between 2 am and 4 am and camping is not allowed.

Facilities:

Dog beach
Life guard station
Beach volleyball
