Happy Fourth of July!

Dagens baghave:

Backyard of the Day:

Mix - McCall Park, Alpine, San Diego County, California

The tiny picnic area where we hung out today, and which I'm calling Mix - McCall Park for lack of another name, is located at the intersection of Tavern Road and South Grade Road in Alpine, San Diego County, California

We decided to celebrate the 4th of July as far away from the horrible crowds as possible, and camped at a little bitty park in Alpine, where we hung out and had a nice picnic.
The park had little more than picnic tables, and no name that we could find.
The corner, where the park is located, was once part of an olive grove owned by Lewis Mix, a Pennsylvania farmer, who lived here with his daughter Charlotte until between 1910 and 1920.
Later, probably somewhere around the 1940s, Carl McCall bought the place and ran a boarding school for boys here.

This little park is fine for day camping, as long as no frills or entertainment is required. There is a small dirt lot for parking, and no signs governing overnight camping.
