Joshua Tree National Monument, California

Joshua Tree National Monument strectches into both
the Mojave and Colorado deserts and is located
east of Indio near Twentynine Palms, California.

We went to Joshua Tree National Monument, a desert area densely populated by Joshua Trees.

Joshua Trees belong to the Yucca family and grow exclusively in the American Southwest, most prolifically in the Mojave desert. It has been estimated that some of the trees are as much as 900 years old, but it can not be established precisely, as they don't have growth rings like real trees.

Joshua Tree National Monument is also known for its fantastic rock formations. Those of you who take notes can probably see that it looks a little like the campground... at least if you ignore the trees.
