Dagens baghave:

Backyard of the Day:

Old Route 66, Coconino & Mohave Counties, Arizona

This particular section of Old Route 66 runs between Ash Fork and Kingman in Coconino and Mohave Counties in northern Arizona.

In the 1920s the first U.S. interstate highway was established. It went from Chicago to Los Angeles through eight states and was named Route 66, or Main Street of America.
Today large parts of Old Route 66 have been swallowed up by new and larger interstates, and other parts are now abandoned and tattered. But here and there you may find a stretch of the old highway that lives on relatively unchanged. One of those rare stretches lie between Ash Fork and Kingman in Arizona, and today we had the priveledge of driving right down that road....

Burma-Shave skilte i massevis...

Burma-Shave signs abound...

Delgadillo's Snow Cap Diner, Old Route 66, Seligman, Arizona

Delgadillo's Snow Cap Diner, which we love.... We got the sad news today that Robert "Bob" Delgadillo (below center) died in June - We owe him a huge debt of laughter and merriment!

The only "real" old building here in the other end of Seligman is the jail, once the Arizona Territorial Jail, which was built in 1860.

Roadkill Cafe, Old Highway 66, Seligman

We couldn't possibly resist the Roadkill Cafe, where they proudly serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner under the slogan "You kill it, we grill it."

Vi bestilte "Kyllingen, Der Næsten Nåede Over Vejen"....

We ordered "The Chicken That Almost Crossed The Road"....

Herude går Gamle Rute 66 langs med jernbanen.

Out here Old Route 66 runs along the railroad.
