We day camped at Magee Park in Carlsbad, home to the old Magee House which is now a museum.

The Magee House was built in 1887 by Samuel Church Smith from a kit purchased from Sears Roebuck Co. and shipped out from the Midwest. In the 1890's the house was bought by Alexander Shipley, and it was handed down to his daughter Florence Shipley Magee, who left it to the city at her death in 1974.
