Backyard of the Day:

Hosp Grove Park, Carlsbad,
San Diego County, California

Hosp Grove Park is framed by Jefferson and Monroe Streets
in Carlsbad, San Diego County, California

We day camped at Hosp Grove, which is a pretty little grove of eucalyptus trees in Carlsbad, where we home schooled and then went for a walk. The park is located right next to the Buena Vista Lagoon, so we'll come back to visit that when it's cooler and more animals are out and about.

The Eucalyptus trees were planted more than a hundred years ago to be used for railroad ties, but as it turns out eucalyptus splits easily, they were unusable and still stand.
