Standin' On The Corner Park, Winslow, Navajo County, Arizona

The Standin' On The Corner Park is located on Old Route 66 on the corner of Second Street and Kinsley Avenue in historic downtown Winslow, Navajo County, Arizona.

Standin' on the Corner in Winslow, Arizona....

...and not just on any random corner, but on exactly that one particular corner!

And this is how it happened.... In 1971 Jackson Browne's car broke down in Winslow, and while he waited for it to be repaired, he hung around this particular street corner, where in those days there was a soda fountain. Here he began to write the song "Take It Easy," but didn't get around to finishing it until about a year later, when he met Glenn Frey on a plane trip. The song became the "Eagles'" first top hit in 1972 and is the most frequently played song in the world.

"Well I'm standin' on a corner in Winslow, Arizona,
such a fine sight to see;
It's a girl, my Lord, in a flatbed Ford
slowin' down to take a look at me."
