Backyard of the Day:

San Onofre State Beach, San Onofre, San Diego, California

San Onofre State Beach is located at San Onofre, just north of Camp Pendleton in northern San Diego County, California.

Resten af dagen camperede vi på San Onofre State Beach. Vi gik på opdagelsen i tidevandssøerne, siden fuldmånen gav os et godt lavvande i dag.

The rest of the day we camped at San Onofre State Beach. We decided to go tidepooling, since the full moon gave us a good low tide today.

Day Camping/Boondocking Information

San Onofre State Beach is an excellent place for day camping. On weekends and during the summer season the place fills up quickly. Day use fee is a stiff $10 and worth every penny in my opinion.
There is overnight camping at San Mateo Campground on the beach, where they offer hook-ups for $18 off season, $24 in season. A little ways south is Bluffs Campground, where there are no hook-ups, but they do have a dump station, $12 off season, $18 in season.

Facilities:

Restrooms with Thetford chemical toilets
Beach showers
Swimming
Fire rings
Picnic Areas
Water fountains
Life guards during the season

Dogs not allowed off leash or on sandy beach area.

Note that nudity is tolerated at the southern end of the San Onofre State beach near the Bluffs campground.
