Dagens baghave:

Backyard of the Day:

Galleta Meadows Estates, Borrego Springs, San Diego, California

Galleta Meadows Estates are located along both sides of Borrego Springs Road in and around Borrego Springs, San Diego County, California

We rattled out into the desert today to see Galleta Meadows Estates. A large chunk of the properties surrounding Borrego Springs are owned by Dennis Avery, and serve as a backdrop for many free-standing sculptures created by artist Ricardo Breceda, among them this statue of Padre Hermenegildo Tomás Garcés, who built the long since defunct Mission Purísima Concepción near Yuma.

The vast majority of the sculptures depict prehistoric animals that in ancient times populated the Borrego Springs area, such as these gigantic tortoises.
