Hav en god Langfredag! ~ Have a
blessed Good Friday!

|
Because of more tug-a-wars with
the aforementioned insurance
company, the entertainment aspect of today was severely diminished.
We took photos of the "scene of the crime" and had to fax
stuff around, but we did have time to honor Good Friday and to take a
peaceful walk through Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery. |

Fredag morgen den 21. juli, 1905
lå kanonbåden U.S.S. Bennington for anker i San Diego
havn.
Friday morning on July 21, 1905
the gunship U.S.S. Bennington was anchored in the San Diego harbor.
At 10:38 am an earshattering boom interrupted the peaceful morning,
when two of the ship's boilers exploded, killing 62 and scalding 40 people.
This stone obelisk stands here
in memory of the dead, whose gravestones surround it. The USS
Bennington Monument is sixty feet tall and was erected in 1908. |
