Big Pine, California
Big Pine, California, is an old west town located in Owens Valley at the intersection of Highways 395 and 168.

This big "baby" Sequoia replaces the one that gave the town its name. It was planted July 23, 1913, and was named the Roosevelt Tree after president Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt. The tree is about 80 feet tall.

The Zurich Station a bit east of Big Pine was a station on the narrow gauge Southern Pacific Railroad, and was used until 1960, after which the town of Zurich went ghost. Zurich was so named, because the Sierra Nevada Mountains look like the Alps.
