Dagens baghave:

Backyard of the Day:

Humboldt Redwoods State Park, Weott, Humboldt County, California

Humboldt Redwoods State Park is located around the towns of Myers Flatt and Weott in Humboldt County, California

North of Rockport Old Highway 1 veers off from the coast to join Highway 101. The coastal area located north of Rockport is known as "the lost coast," because the coast here is so rugged that back in the day they largely gave up on building roads there.
Highway 101 brought us into the Sequoia woods again, to Humboldt Redwoods State Park, which we entered on the road known as "Avenue of the Giants".

Before we reached Humboldt Redwoods State Park we visited the "Tree House", a tree which is actually large enough that there is a room inside of it. Which leads me to mention that every Tom, Dick, and Harry up here has a large tree in the backyard, which is "world famous" and which "you must see," such as the "grandfather tree", the "living chimney tree", and the "drive through tree." Not to mention the Bigfoot museums.

Men tilbage til "Træhuset". Den er god nok...

But back to the "Tree House". Yep, it's really true...

...og et lille vindue ~ ...and a little window

One would think it could get a little crowded inside the "Tree House", but fear not, fortunately they've added on in back.

Folkene i "Træhuset" sælger kæmpestore skulpturer i sequoia træ. Hvad ellers...?

The people in the "Tree House" sell humongous sculptures carved in sequoia wood. What else...?

Our campsite is right next to a meadow where a small flock of deer are grazing.

Camping/Boondocking Information

We are staying at Albee Creek Campground in Humboldt Redwoods State Park. This is an excellent spot for camping. Camp sites are $25 a night during the summer season, without hook-ups.
Note that the road going down to Albee Creek Campground is five miles of poorly maintained, windy, narrow road, and a few times we had less than a foot to spare on each side of the Lance camper squeezing between redwood trees on both sides of the road.

Facilities:

Restrooms
Showers
Picnic areas
Barbecues
Hiking trails
Lots of shade

Dogs are allowed, and are to be kept on leash and off trails.
