Backyard of the Day:

Old Ironsides County Park, El Cajon, San Diego County, California

Old Ironsides County Park is located on the corner of East Noakes Street and Harbison Canyon Road in El Cajon, San Diego County, California

I dag camperede vi i Old Ironsides County Park i El Cajon.

Today we camped in Old Ironsides County Park in El Cajon. The park stretches along a small stream and is shaded by ancient coast live oaks. It is definitely one of the most idyllic of the small parks we have visited.

A thousand years ago an Indian village existed here. The women collected acorns and ground them into flour in the holes in this rock, and then leached the flour in the stream in order to remove the taste of tannin.

Old Ironsides Park has no fewer than three playgrounds. One for little kids, one for big kids...

...and - best of all - an actual old playground with swings and a real old-fashioned slide.
