Down the highway are the remains
of a restaurant that was called Dogpatch USA. It was built in 1920 as
a gathering place for officers of Camp Lockett, home of the last U.
S. Cavalry.
The Restaurant was bought in the
1950's by the festive L. P. Reaves, and from that time the place was
one of the hottest spots in the area, closing when the customers went
home. The 1950's cafe changed hardly at all in the next 30 years,
until it burned down in 1987.
Reaves never rebuilt the place
and died in 1998.
Today the only thing that
remains is this shed. |
