We braved the wind and day camped in Paso Picacho in Cuyamaca Rancho State Park today.

 

 

 

 

Paso Picacho ligger i den nordlige halvdel af parken og er mest kendt for udsigten til Stonewall Peak.

Paso Picacho is located in the northern half of the park, and is best known for the view of Stonewall Peak.

Stonewall Peak er opkaldt efter sydstaternes general Stonewall Jackson af William Skidmore, en tidligere soldat i sydstaternes hær, som fandt guld der i 1870. Senere blev "Jackson" droppet af hensyn til efterkrigslige sensibiliteter.

Stonewall Peak was named after Confederate general Stonewall Jackson by William Skidmore, a former Confederate soldier who found gold there in 1870. Later the "Jackson" was dropped in favor of political correctness.

Day Camping/Boondocking Information

Paso Picacho in Cuyamaca Rancho State Park is an excellent place for day camping. The park is open from dawn to dusk, and there is a $6.00 parking fee. There is a campground (no hook-ups) for overnight camping, $20 in summer, $15 in winter.

Drinking fountains
Hiking trails

Small museum open on weekends

Leashed dogs welcome, but restricted on trails.
