Mission Trails Regional Park with Kumeyaay Lake is located along Mission Gorge Road in Tierrasanta, San Diego County, California

 

Vi camperede i Mission Trails Regional Park, som er en af landets største byparker.

We day camped in Mission Trails Regional Park, one of the largest urban parks in the U. S.

 

 

Parkens informationscenter er virkelig fantastisk, et af de bedste, vi har set.

The park's visitors' center is spectacular, one of the best we've ever seen.

 

 

 

 

Vi tog os en lang gåtur ved den gamle dæmning, bygget for Mission San Diego de Alcala mellem 1813 og 1816 af Kumeyaay indianere.

We went for a long walk around the old dam, built for Mission San Diego de Alcala between 1813 and 1816 by Kumeyaay Indians.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Det meste af dagen blev tilbragt her ved Kumeyaay Lake, som var dejligt stille og fredelig, selv på en lørdag.

Most of the day was spent here at Kumeyaay Lake which was blissfully quiet, even on a Saturday.

Denne del af Mission Trails Regional Park var under anden verdenskrig "Camp Elliott", en træningslejr for marinesoldater.

This part of Mission Trails Regional Park was during World War II "Camp Elliott", a training camp for the Marine Corps.

 

 

Ribes Speciosum - en busk i stikkelsbærfamilien med blomster der ligner små fuchsia. Kolibrierne sværmede om den.

The fuchsia-flowered gooseberry - ribes speciosum - appeared to be an irresistible attraction for the hummingbirds.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Day Camping/Boondocking Information

Mission Trails Regional Park is an excellent spot for day camping.
Overnight camping is allowed at the campground at Kumeyaay Lake ($14 pr. night, no hook-ups.), but there is no parking in other lots after 5:00 pm.
The campground has a free day-use area that is great for day camping.

Facilities:
Restrooms with cold showers
Hiking trails
Picnic areas
