Det var den nu ikke, men det var en køn tur, og spændende alligevel. We had heard from somebody - apparently nobody reliable - that the old Butterfield stage station in Oak Grove is open for visitors on Saturdays. It wasn't, but it was a scenic trip, and fascinating all the same.     Oak Grove er den sidste dilligencestation, der står tilbage på Butterfield ruten, der gik mellem St. Louis, Missouri, og San Francisco, Californien fra 1858 til 1861. The rules for stage passengers contained such sound advice as "stay away from alcohol in cold weather, as it will make you freeze sooner, but if you insist on drinking anyway, then at least pass the bottle," and "only spit to the leeward side".

Day Camping/Boondocking Information We did a big loop today, so didn't actually set up camp in any one place. We did stay for about an hour at the stage station, where there was a good sized turnout. For overnight camping there is a Cleveland National Forest campground ("Oak Grove Campground") less than a mile south of the stage station across the highway, $15 per night, no hook-ups.
