Backyard of the Day:

Bernardo Winery, Rancho Bernardo, San Diego County, California

Bernardo Winery is located at 13330 Paseo Del Verano Norte in Rancho Bernardo, San Diego County, California

We spent a grayish day camped out at Bernardo Winery. The old vinyard is the oldest in San Diego county, established in 1889. It was bought by Sicilian immigrant Vincent Russo in 1927 during the prohibition.
Vincent Russo's son Ross, who took over Bernardo Winery from his father, died January 15, 2008.

Today the vinyards cover only a small area, and therefore grapes are imported from much of California.

Hvorend man vender sig hen her, står der antikviteter.

Wherever you turn around here there are antiques.

There's wine tasting here, and they also sell wines from many Californian wine makers.

Back in the day they pressed olive oil here, and today the old olive presses stand in the shade of the olive trees.

Rancho Bernardo's local historical society are here at the vinyard, in the process of building new museum facilities.
