Backyard of the Day:

Pioneertown, San Bernardino County, California

Pioneertown is located in the Mojave Desert 4 miles north of Yucca Valley in San Bernardino County, California

We were up for a drive in the nice weather, so we set off for Pioneertown in the Mojave Desert.

Pioneertown looks like a ghost town, and rightfully I suppose it is. But although it looks like a mining town from the 1870s, this town was actually built by Hollywood in 1946 for the express purpose of filming westerns here.

Day Camping/Boondocking Information

Pioneertown is a good spot for day camping.

We didn't stay overnight, but there is a large dirt lot next to Pappy & Harriet's and I would be surprised if anyone would mind a discreet boondocker staying there.
