Mark Twain Cabin on
Jackass Hill, Angels Camp, California.

Jackass Hill and the Mark Twain Cabin are located near
Angels Camp in Tuolumne County, California.
They are a mile off Highway 49, up Jackass Hill Road.

Mark Twain lived in this cabin on Jackass Hill in 1864-1865, when he was unemployed and trying his hand at gold mining. The cabin burned, but was rebuilt in 1922 with the original chimney and fireplace.

Æselbakkens æsel? ~ Jackass of Jackass Hill?

On the way down Jackass Hill we stopped to say hello to an ostrich. He wasn't very interested in us, but contrary to him a big flock of goats were very interested!
