Mariposa Grove is in the southern part of Yosemite, and is a small grove of giant sequoias, largest living organisms on earth. The trees are considered full-grown at 800 years of age and can live about 3000 years.

Giant Sequoias are largely immune to disease, insects, and fire. The one thing that can kill them is falling over, which they do frequently, because the root system is rather small compared to the size of the tree.
