Transcript of Last Will and Testament of
Owen Jenkins

I Owen Jenkins of Greenville district and state of South Carolina being of mortallity of my body and knowing that it is appointed for man once to die I make constitute and ordain this my last will and testament principally and first of all I recommend my body to the earth to be buried in a decent Christian burial at the discretion of my executors and as for such worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me with in this life I give devise and bequeath unto Nancy Jenkins my well beloved wife all and the whole of my estate both real and personal for her freely to enjoy and possess without hinderance or molestation during her whole life and at her decease my will is that my son Jesse Mercer Jenkins possess the land that he is living on for him and his lawful heirs to possess forever. Also that my son James Lemuel Jenkins for himself and his lawful heirs to possess the land that he is living on and James L. Jenkins and Jesse M. Jenkins is to possess their lands at five hundred dollars each and I have given to my son Owen Henderson Jenkins the land that he is now living on at five hundred dollars and I likewise have given to my four daughters viz Jemima Williams Ayres and Matilda Wilson Daily, Louisa Hammon Dumas and Sicily Ann Owings the amount of five hundred dollars each in property and as to my personal estate I leave to the discretion of my well beloved wife Nancy Jenkins for her to make use of as she may think proper and when it please God to remove my self and my beloved wife from time to eternity my will then is that my executors do judiciously dispose of what may remain of my personal estate and equally divide the same between my several children also constitute and appoint my well beloved wife Nancy Jenkins my executrix and James L. Jenkins, Owen H. Jenkins and Jesse M. Jenkins my executors of this only last will and testament and I do hereby confirm this to be my last will and testament and I do hereby confirm this to be my last will and testament and in witness my hand and seal this 30th of August 1847.
