Mortgage

Maria
Louise Benson Harrison
Whereas
I, Maria Harrison, am... justly indebted
to V McBee, in the amount of $201.43 and interest payable on or
before 25 Dec next. I therefore mortgage to V McBee the following
slave, to wit, Allen about 10-12 yrs of
age...
Nevertheless,
if I, the sd Maria L. Harrison... shall pay... the sum of $201.43 on
or before the due date, this mortgage shall be cancelled. If note not
paid, Allen, after 10 days of public notice may be sold at public auction.
Sd.
Allen is now working with Dyer and Mooney, tailors, in this place.
McBee is to control the boy and either let him continue to work or
take him into his own possession.
