OBITUARY FOR
LEWIS CLIFTON DEANHARDT SR

Lewis C. "Luke" Deanhardt, 80, formerly of Belton, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2002, at Johnson City Medical Center, Johnson City, Tenn.

He was a son of the late William Bruno and Annie Moore Deanhardt. Mr. Deanhardt retired from Burlington Industries where he worked as an Industrial Engineer for 30 years.

He received his B.S. degree in Engineering from Clemson University, where he was a member of the Lettermans Club and IPTAY. Mr. Deanhardt was a member and Deacon at Clark Street Baptist Church. He was a member of North Johnson City Optimist Club, member and past commander of the American Legion, Post No. 24, and a member of the United Commercial Travelers. He was a former football and baseball official and also a youth baseball coach in Johnson City.

Mr. Deanhardt was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served at Pearl Harbor during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bea Couch Deanhardt, in July 2001; an infant son, Archie Deanhardt; two brothers, Hoyt Deanhardt and Arthur Deanhardt; and one sister, Rachel Montaque.

Surviving are a daughter, Lisa Holley, of Johnson City; two sons, Luke Deanhardt of Dothan, Ala., and David Deanhardt of Jonesborough, Tenn.; two brothers, Larry Deanhardt of Belton and George Deanhardt of Greenville; three sisters, Helen Ellis of Anderson, Edna Fleming of Donalds and Doris Thompson of Columbia; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

The body is at Robinson Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service.
