Transcript
of Last Will and Testament of
Jacob
M. Cooley
In
the name of God Amen.
I
Jacob M. Cooley of the State and District aforesaid being of Sound
and disposing mind and memory, and calling to mind the uncertainty of
life do make and ordain this my last will and testament.
First
I bequeath my soul to God, and my Body to decent Burial under ground.
Second,
I wish of my effects that all my just debts and funeral expenses to
be [--?--]
if the half that my father owns cannot be purchased, and the proceeds
to go to Stacy Boice for the benefit of her four youngest children,
(namely) James Mattison, Jacob Newton, Mary Elizabeth, Nancy Jane, if
the half owned by Hiram Cooley can be purchased at a fair price, I
wish it to be bought with my money and remain for a home for Said
Stacy Boice and the above named children So long as she the said
Stacy Boice remains in her present condition, but if she should marry
or return and live with her former Husband, then the land to be sold
and the proceeds thereof go to the above named Children or so many of
them as may be alive. The Balance of my property to be sold, and the
proceeds to go to the use and benefit of the above named children
James Mattison, Jacob Newton, Mary Elizabeth, and Nancy Jane, to be
divided equally among them, that they may mave share and share alike,
and I further ordan that if there should be any other property come
into my possession by will or otherwise, or I should inherit any
other property to the above named children.
Lastly
I appoint my Brothers Dr. Hiram Cooley and John J. Cooley my
executors to execute this my last will, revoking all former wills, in
witness whereof I have hereunto set my name and affixed my seal this
the Fourteenth day of March in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred
and sixty three and in the third year of the independence of the
Confederate States of America.
