Virginia In the name of God Amen I Elizabeth Banks of ye Parrish of St. Stephens in the County of Northumberland in the Colony of Virginia Widdow being weake of body but of Sound and perfect memory (Laud and praised bee to Almighty Gode for the same) So make here my last will and testament in manner and form following Dated in Virgo the twenty thirde Day May Anno Domini 1720. Imprimis I bequeath my Soule to Almighty God and my will is that my body have Christian burial according to the discretion of my Executor hereafter named and appointed and as to such temporal estate as it hath pleased my Good God to lend me give and dispose of the same together with my lands and Negroes as followeth and is my desire that my just debts I give devise and bequeath unto my son Jno. Keen all my land in Mattaponie and the half the stock of cattle and Hoggs to me belonging which are on the said land and two of my negroes vizt. Violet & Harry to him my Said Son and his heirs forever which said land and negroes together with what estate I have formerly given him I intend in full as his filial part or childs portion of my whole estate and it is my wish and desire that if after my decease my said son Should endeavour to recover any other part of my said estate than what I have hereby bequeathed to him that then the land and negroes above mentioned shall revert and come to my Grandson Wm. Keen and to his heirs for ever. Item I give my daughter Hannah Bushrod these four Negroes vizt. Hager, Hannah, Patrick and Tony to her and her heirs for ever together with all the best of my wearing apparel as linnen Silkes and Wollen and other appurtenances thereto belonging I give unto my grandson Giles Samford and to his heirs for ever on negro woman named Rachel to be delivered unto him by my Executors when ye sd. Giles shall attain the Age of Twenty and one years. Item I give unto Saml. Samford, Senr. and to each of his three eldest Sons one Shilling Sterling a piece. Item I give and bequeath to my Grand sons John Samford and Saml. Samford one piece of Gorlick Holland to each of them. Item I give and bequeath unto my Grandaughter Elizabeth Lee that thirty pounds I lent her husband together with my negro woman called Bess and her son called Billy to her and her heirs for ever and said woman being already delivered to her my said Grand daughter. Item I give and bequeath unto my Grand Daughter Elizabeth Lee, one feather bed and furniture Vizt. bed bolster Rugg, blankets and pair sheets two pillows one Suit Curtains and Vallens and bedstead. Item I give and bequeath unto my grandaughter Elizabeth Samford one negro girl named Dido to her my Said Grandaughter and her heirs for ever which Negro I appoint to be delivered unto her the said Elizabeth att the age of Eighteen Years or Day of marriage which shall first happen. Item I give and bequeath to my Grandchildren John Woodbridge and Elizabeth Woodbridge to Each a gold ring John to have that with this motto in it Vizt. "In my choice I do rejoyce" and Elizabeth to have that with motto in it Vizt. "Lett love abide till Death Divide." Item it is my will bequeathed to go to my Son in Law Samuel Samford and his Children my Grand children shall be in full of any part or parcel of my Estate which by any means near they may claim or Demand except what I formerly gave them. Item I give devise and bequeath unto my Grand Son Wm. Keen all that tract plantation and tenements of land with the appurtenances thereunto belonging which I bought of my Son in Law Jno. Bushrod to him my said Grandson Wm. Keen and to his heirs for ever -- I also give and bequeath unto my Grandson Wm. Keen and to his heirs and assigns for ever all ye rest and residue and remainder of my Estate both real and personal not by this my will before disposed of as lands Servants Slaves horses cattle Sheep Hoggs Household Goods Tobaccos Money Debts due and Demands whatsoever either in Great brittain Virginia or Elsewhere. Item it is my will that my Mulatto Man named John Spence be free and discharged from servitude from me and my heirs Immediately after my Decease -- Lastly I do hereby Nominate and appoint my dutiful Grandson William Keen above named to be my full whole and Sole exectr. of this my last will and Testament hereby revoking & Disanulling all former wills by me heretofore made either by word or writeing and in Testimony of which this is my last will and testament I have hereunto sett my hand and affixed my Seal the Day and Year on the other side of this half sheet of paper first mentioned.
