Deed of Conveyance to William Garland from
David Williams, Sr.

"The Indenture made the second day of April in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand & Seven Hundred and Sixteen and in the Second Year of the Reign of Our Sovereign Lord George of Great Brittan, France, and Ireland, King Defender of the faith &ca between William Garland of this Parish of Cople in the County of Westmoreland and Colony of Virginia, Carpenter, of the one part, and David Williams of said Parish and County, Taylor, of the other part witnesseth that the said Wm. Garland for and in Consideration of the sum of five shillings to him in hand paid before the Sealing and Delivery of these presents by the said David Williams and for and in Consideration of one hundred Acres of Land made into a good Plantation with Two or Three good houses thereupon Situate Lying and being in the County of Westmoreland and forrest Nomini and bounded as followeth. Beginning at a marked Chestnutt Standing in a line of Trees being first mention in the bill of Sails from James Orchard to Hugh Money and from said Hugh Money to said David Williams as the courses doth further make appear by Deeds from Hugh Money recorded in Westmoreland Court both of Lease and Release which said land profits said David Williams Conveys and assures unto him the said William Garland his Heirs and Assigns for ever have granted, bargained, sold, alienated, Enfeefed & confirmed and by these presents grant, bargain, Sell, Alienate, Enfeefs, and Confirms unto the said David Williams his heirs and Assigns All that Tract Divident piece or parcell of Land containing Three hundred Acres of Land Situate Lying and being in the Parish of Nortfarnham and County of Richmond and is part of a Patt. Dated the Third day of December 1663 and by the said Wm. Danby sold and Assigned to Henry Austin Late of this said Parish and County (Dec'd.) and is since by severall mean desconts become the proper Estate and Inheritance of the same Wm. Garland made and insure to him from Mr. Austin Brockenbrough and by a Deed or Deeds of Lease and Release one dated the fourth day of October and the other the fifth day 1714 and recorded the 6th of the same Month in said County of Richmond which said Deeds of Lease and Release were delivered to him the said David Williams by the said Wm. Garland for his further and more firm Assurance that his heirs &ca also being Woodland ground and bounded as followeth that is to say beginning at a White Oak standing by a Swan Side and extending thence South fifty Six degrees East and hundred and fifty five poarches to Three Shrubby Oaks the Corner of the Land of Mrs. Anne Bramham formerly Preen, thence along her line Southeast & by South to the Land of Nathaniel Thrift part also of sd. Patt. and alonge the said Thrifts line across sd. Patt. to the outside line thereof thence alonge the sd. line Northwest by North five hundred porches, thence Southwest by West 221 poarches to the first Station together with all the houses, outhouses, Orchards, gardens, fences, woods and underwoods, &ca forfits, comodities [illegible] and appurtenances whatsoever and every part and parsell thereof to him the said David Williams his heirs and assigns to the only use and behoofe of the said Exact Day & Years first above written."
