ALLINGE KIRKE
ALLINGE-SANDVIG SOGN, NØRRE HERRED,
BORNHOLM, DENMARK

Allinge Church was built about the 14th century and originally was just a modest granite longhouse. The tower was added in the 16th century, and the whole church was rebuilt in 1892 in gothic style.
Until 1941 the church belonged under Ols Church, but it now serves the twin towns of Allinge and Sandvig.

The Allinge Church porch holds a memorial enumerating Bornholm's victims in the pest epidemics of 1618 and 1654. 126 people died in the 1618 epidemic and 102 in 1954, just in Allinge-Sandvig.
The church porch also holds these two grave memorials, one for a Hammershus commander Blasius van Wickeden (died 1547), and the other for Arxat Alberg Boitin, a son of Hammershus commander Herman Boitin, (died may 14, 1556 at 1½ years of age).

Allinge Church's nave ship is the ship "Naos," built by mason Herman Svensson and given to the church by Allinge-Sandvigs Sailor's Association in 1905.

Allinge Church's old organ was built by A. H. Busch & Sons in 1894. It remains in the church for use at church concerts. The organ was restored in 1992.

Allinge Church's new organ, A Frobenius organ, is from 1962.

Allinge Church got its pulpit when a ship that was transporting it was wrecked at the north of Bornholm, and the pulpit was saved. It is from about 1650. The carvings depict the four evangelists and the monogram of King Frederik III.

Instead of an actual altar piece, a crucifix hangs over the altar. The brass candle sticks are from about 1650.

Krucifikset er fra 1800-tallet.

The crucifix is from the 1800s.

Døbefonten er lavet af Moseløkkegranit i 1890.

"In the year 1687 on May 7, to the happy memory of this land's inhabitants, his royal majesty Christian V arrived here to Bornholm at Sandvig with six fregats. And after his royal majesty had viewed Hammershus he immediately traveled to Rønne, where he took in a sermon on May 8. That same day he traveled to Svaneke and stayed there until May 11. From there he went to the island of Christiansø, but later, because of a headwind and storm on the voyage back, his majesty returned again to Sandvig on May 13. He took lodging with artillerist Niels Jørgensen in Sandvig. On Whitsunday, which was on May 15, his royal majesty was in Allinge Church and heard the sermon of the honorable dean Mr. Poul Ancher. At the high mass, which had been ordered, the dean on the same occasion christened the child of the vicar Mr. Jacob Jensen Sode, which was named after the king himself, Christian. His royal majesty offered to be the godfather and sent to the christening his representatives honorable colonel and commander in chief and chief administrative officer over this land Mr. diderich von Wettberg, Lord of Østerup Estate. When everything in Allinge Church had been done, his majesty went to Sandvig again, and immediately requested evening vespers, which was held by vicar Mr. Jacob Jensen Sode in a parlor at Niels Jørgensen's. When this request had been fulfilled his majesty immediately went out to see and arrived happily in copenhagen with his large entourage. This tablet was placed to ensure the remembrance of later generations."

Udenfor kirken står statuen "Metamorphose" af arne ranslet.

Outside the church is the statue "Metaporphosis" by Arne Ranslet.
